Warm welcome to Blacknuss ft. Jennifer Brown at SUS Live – Stockholm’s highest live stage.
The legendary Blacknuss is a Swedish band with roots in the historic jazz club Fasching in Stockholm, where the foundation was laid for what would become one of Sweden’s premier music collectives. It was drummer Martin Jonssonand Conny C. Lindström who started the Blacknuss club in the 1990s (named after an album by Rashaan Roland Kirk).
Martin, along with legendary musician and producer Christian Falk, formed the heart of the club, and together they awakened Sweden from its slumber, introducing the country to real club and soul music.
When it was time to enter the recording studio, Martin and Christian invited artists and musicians who had performed at the club over the years. Many of Sweden’s top musicians ended up in the same room, including Mattias Torell, Desmond Foster, Esbjörn Svensson, Goran Kajfeš, and Per “Ruskträsk” Johansson.
As if that wasn’t enough, vocalists such as Lisa Nilsson, Stephen Simmonds, Titiyo, Jennifer Brown, Robyn, and Viktoria Tolstoy were added to the mix. Blacknuss scored their own hits with songs like “It Should Have Been You,” “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life,” and “Dinah.”
The band’s musical style was initially mostly jazz and funk, but their repertoire and groove gradually evolved toward soul and R&B.
Now they’re on stage at SUS LIVE, joined by the incredible singer Jennifer Brown.
